AT HOME WITH: FRANÇOIS X

Taking over today’s At Home With is underground great, François X.

Touted for his timeless selection of obscure gems and off-kilter club cuts, François X shot to prominence in the early ‘10s with a trio of standout EP releases on DJ Deep’s seminal imprint, Deeply Rooted. Now a leading face of the Parisian techno scene, François X continues to break new ground as head of the hugely influential label and party collective, DEMENT3D, and the recently launched, XX LAB.

His selection of recent and all time favourites include DJ Harvey, E-Saggila, Kanye West, Jacob's Ladder and more.

A Recent Mix:

François X - Fast Forward Audio Series

I've selected my own mix, just because for once I love it. It's A good picture of what I love to achieve, maintaining the balance between the groove and hazy vibes.

An All Time Favourite:

DJ Harvey - Sarcastic Disco

I was and still am a huge fan of Dj Harvey and this mix was a highlight of my mid 2000s blogger/digger era. I remember playing this all day long, it's a perfect blend of classic and hidden gems. I love the way the mix embarks you on Balearic journey with this special Harvey touch: erotic sexual moist sound

A Recent Standout Release:

E-Saggila ‎– Corporate Cross

I received this album in my promo box, and I can say I was amazed by this beautiful piece of music. For me it's like an intimate poem! The perfect winter soundtrack.

An All Time Favourite:

Kanye West - Life Of Pablo

I have so many favourite releases and to pick one remains not a straightforward thing to achieve. The fascinating thing with this album is how it unlocked many doors (production wise) to me, in terms of sampling, arrangement, and freedom. The way he carved it is incredible, there are no boundaries, and so many creative ideas packed into one project. It's A never ending inspiration tool.

A Good Read:

Love Saves the Day by Tim Lawrence

I am a nostalgic kind of guy; I always delved in my forgotten memories, I love to revive epic moments, parties and some highlights of my artist life. It's my fuel...But every so often when I feel numb, I go back to this book, who makes me dream about those magic days of clubbing. It's a bit naive and l Love it.

A Good Watch:

Jacob's Ladder (1990) by Alan Marshall

I am a huge fan of psychedelic and sci-fi movies and Jacob's ladder remains the number one movie for that. It's murky, frightening and at the same super ecstatic.
