THEOS

THEOS joins the LWE Mix Series for our 220th edition, bringing a massive hour of vocal-driven house with him.

The Paris-based producer and DJ has gone from strength-to-strength in recent years, with recent performances with Kerri Chandler and a release on Defected (in collaboration with Oden & Fatzo) topping things off. Check the mix out to see what all the fuss is about.

We also chatted to THEOS about production techniques, influences, dream venues and more.

If you could collaborate with any artist, dead or alive, who would it be?

I would choose having some time in the studio with Quincy Jones

What was the first record you ever bought and does it still influence your music today?

I think it was a 12’’ from Jay Z called ’30 Something’. I am not sure it influences my house tracks, but I definitely get inspired by HipHop a lot on the music I produce aside.

What’s your process for finding new music?

I really like to listen to podcasts and DJ sets on Youtube & Soundcloud from Artists I freshly know. Then I mainly dig on Youtube and Instagram

What is one piece of advice you would give to your younger self?

Stay true to yourself

What is your dream venue to play at?

It was the Good Old Venue Printworks in London. Now I’d choose Hï Ibiza, pretty predictable coming from a DJ.

How has your music style evolved throughout your career?

I would say it is going rawer a rawer over time. Less is more ;)

If you weren’t a DJ, what career would you be in?

I would do what I already do now besides DJing : Composer, Producer and Instrumentalist.

If money wasn’t an issue, what would you ask for on your rider?

It doesn’t come in the Rider but I’d ask for multiple flights and hotel rooms for my best friends

Day party or club night, and why?

Day party for sure! Because of the suuuun ! And I also like the way we can see all the people dancing around

If you could create a pub what would you call it?

I’d call it ‘The Pint Funker’

What is your go to DJ-ing snack or on the road snack?

Classic Veggie Sandwich. Simple and effective.
