When did you first play together?

We first started playing together doing b2b’s in 2018 and finally made it official with the formation of HOTPRETTY in 2022!

Where has been the best club you’ve played at and why?

Smartbar is where we first started out so that will always be our home. We just recently played Gabriella in New York and had one of the most affirming nights of our lives. The sound in the booth was some of the best we’ve ever heard. 

Who continuously influences your sound?

There is a bourgeoning community of progressive house and trance producers that are pushing the genre forward and are putting a modern spin on some of the classic sounds of the past. Almost everyday there is a new track we fall in love with. It feels inspiring to be part of a new sound that’s emerging, one that’s in constant conversation with the past.

What’s one thing you’re super exited for in summer?

We have two new tunes coming out towards the end of May, which includes our very first HOTPRETTY official remix. We have a few opportunities to play shows around North America that we’re excited to announce. And as always, we look forward to Arc Music Festival. This will be our fourth year returning to play!

What is your process of finding new music?

What is one piece of advice for someone starting out?

One piece of advice that we always give is to throw your own parties. Not only does it give you a chance to play out, it’s where you learn the core elements of building a great night. It’s so important for DJs to understand what goes into making a night work, the alchemy it requires. It will absolutely sharpen your craft. 

The other piece of advice … practice patience. DJing is a craft. Anybody can learn the technology and basic functions of mixing in a snap, but it truly takes time to learn the art of storytelling with your record bag. Don’t rush it. Let it come.
